Farah will only make Happy New Year with SRK

Why did Farah choose Akshay over SRK for her film Tees Maar Khan? That hasn't been reported on. Now, Farah has come out and spoken on the matter. "Am I the only person who has some reserved rights on SRK, or has SRK some rights on me?" says Farah, "No, it just happened."

The reason there was speculation about a falling-out between the two of them was that the movie was originally thought to be made for SRK. But after reports that SRK did not want to get involved in the project, it was announced that Akshay would take his place instead.

Farah has begun work on Tees Maar Khan, but her other project with SRK, Happy New Year, is pending. Of that, she says: "It should have happened this year. But whenever I plan to start work on it, I end up making some other film instead."

But the reason could also be that SRK has kept her waiting for years despite having two hits with her, Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. Farah says that talk of a falling-out is not true. "Without him, the two movies would not have been such big hits, and I don't see why we shouldn't make another film," she says.

Happy New Year has been spoken about for four years, and in that period, SRK has signed on two films Ra.1 and Don 2. "Ra.1 is his home production, and it's a project really close to his heart," says Farah, "while Don 2 is a longstanding project. Perhaps, I wasn't ready with the script, and that's why he moved on to Ra.1"

But now that she is working on Tees Maar Khan, she has time to go before starting work on Happy New Year. Farah says that if she makes the film, it will be with Shah Rukh. "If, for some other reason, he doesn't want to do it. I will not make it.".

Check out SRK's new porcupine like hairdo!

We spotted Shah Rukh Khan flaunting his long thick tresses at the Filmfare Awards on Feb 27th 2010 and were intrigued by how SRK pulls off every style well. While at times he let his hair fall on his forehead, rest of the times, he'd gel his hair and comb it all backwards giving himself a suave and sexy look.

We loved SRK's experimental hair but were in for a shock when we got to know that he had chopped his hair and now sports short spiked hairdo.

Describing his hair Shah Rukh said, "Have cut my hair real short. I look a bit like a shorn sheep. Hopefully as they say. God tempers the wind for the shorn sheep. I need to learn how to comb this porcupinish headset. During Holi, water balloon landed on my head & bounced off! I have now less hair to wash...comb or style."

According to our sources, Shah Rukh got his haircut done only for his new film Ra One which happens to be a superhero film.

We liked SRK in his trademark long tresses but have to admit he definitely looks younger now!

CAIR APPLAUDS FOX, KARAN JOHAR FOR PORTRAYAL OF MUSLIMS - TOP Film 'My Name is Khan' affirms Muslims' contributions to America

CAIR APPLAUDS FOX, KARAN JOHAR FOR PORTRAYAL OF MUSLIMS - TOP Film 'My Name is Khan' affirms Muslims' contributions to America

(LOS ANGELES, CA, 2/26/10)  The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today sent a letter to Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Nancy Utley and Steve Gilula to thank them for recognizing Muslims' contributions to American society in the newly released film, "My Name is Khan."

The film shows a central Muslim character, played by leading actor Shah Rukh Khan, who preaches the values of kindness, generosity and challenging injustice.

In the letter, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush stated in part:

"The film offers a poignant view of the struggles and ambitions of American Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Arab communities to fully integrate in America after the horrific 9/11 terror attacks. Incidents of harassment and discrimination, such as bullying at schools and hurling racial slurs at women for wearing the hijab (Islamic headscarf) -- depicted in the film -- mirror trends that have almost become commonplace in the past several years."

CAIR-LA also sent a letter to film's director, Karan Johar, congratulating him on his initiative to humanize American Muslims and their often-maligned faith, Islam.

"We appreciate Mr. Johar's tenacity and determination in conveying the many significant contributions of American Muslims to a worldwide audience, and urge those who are against the values of peace and harmony to take a lesson from this film," said Ayloush.

CAIR's offices in Los Angeles, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area consulted with Johar on the film. CAIR representatives shared actual anti-Muslim incidents of harassment and discrimination and their impact on Muslims' life, and arranged tours of Muslim and Arab neighborhoods for the director.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

SRK Tweets Filmfare

Despite an exhausting night co-hosting the 55th Idea Filmfare Awards with fellow co-star Saif, King Khan decided to squeeze in some tweeting before hitting the sack.

Commenting on the Bollywood beauties that made an appearance, SRK described Vidya Balan as 'ravishing', Deepika 'lovely' and Kat 'awesome' whilst he added that Bebo was missed.

Shah Rukh also handed out thanks to the script team (Kiran Kotria, Veerdas and others) the dancers and the backstage personnel who he admits made everything nice and slick.

Khan rounded of the tweeting session with

a note for Shahid Kapoor who performed to Michael Jackson's This Is it who according to SRK, was a 'treat to watch dancing'.

Don't miss the awards as Sony airs them on March 7th.

MNIK's 9/11 impact

My Name Is Khan has set a new record, the film has become SRK's top-grossing film in North America with total sales of over $3 million.

Members of advocacy groups in US, who have been working
with issues of racial profiling and discrimination in the South Asian community post 9/11 say the film resonates with their experiences post the world trade terror attacks.

"At certain scenes I had to turn away as I was sitting and watching it with my wife. I was like--oh my god, this brings back all the memories of all the hardships the community was going through," said Mohammad ( Moe) Razvi, Community Organiser.

Just like in the movie he was detained because of his name. There were people here who were detained for months without any allegations.

There were cards left in their homes.

NDTV: These are visiting cards of FBI officers?

Razvi: Yes, FBI officers and INS officer's visiting cards.

Here are hundreds of cases of community members who encountered the same.

In one scene it was shown how his (SRK) son suffered discrimination. Here's a similar report about how a 10-year-old girl suffered. She lodged a complaint saying: "I was walking and this lady called me a terrorist and made a killing sign. But she was "too frightened to tell any one."

One of the other scenes (from the movie) showed how Rizwan Khan's (SRK) sister-in-law had her scarf pulled off. That scene brought back personal memories for my own family.

My daughter was at that time around 10 or 11 years old and her scarf was also pulled off in school. She was kicked down the steps and cursed at, she did not inform me. Even my own daughter was afraid to let me know about it.

NDTV: Did she see the movie and what did she think of it?

Razvi: It brought back her own experiences .

NDTV: Did she like it?

Razvi: Both my daughters were crying. It moved them so much. They kept telling me that that dad you have to watch this movie.

NDTV: So do you think that the community when they watch this film do they feel that Bollywood or somebody understands what they were going through and is telling their story.

Razvi: Absolutely, absolutely. All the South Asian community members from India Pakistan, Sri lanka, Punjab, Indonesia it resonates because it did not make a difference whether you were Muslim or not. All that mattered was the color of your skin and you were attacked.
