Shahrukh Khan and Kajol Talk 'My Name is Khan' in NYC

The King of Bollywood was in New York City on Monday to talk about his new movie "My Name is Khan" and DesiHits.com was of course close to the star to hear what he had to say about the highly anticipated flick!

Shahrukh Khan and his co-star Kajol met up with journalists in New York City and everyone was eager to hear what they had to reveal about the movie that hits theaters on February 12.

After posing for the cameras, the two stars sat down to answer questions about anything from their personal chemistry to the movie's message.

"We like to describe it as a dramatic love story between the two characters," SRK started out by saying, adding "there's also a real-life incident in the movie, which is 9/11, and how it affects people's lives, and it's also about how love conquers all and humanity conquers everything."

"In a certain sense it's Buddhist," Shahrukh explained. "It's different from the happy-go-lucky stuff that we have done in the past."

"We wanted to make an entertaining movie," Kajol added before SRK jumped in again to say that three H:s can sum up the story: "hope, happiness and humanity."

Shahrukh's favorite place to shoot was in San Francisco because he liked the people, even though it was cold! And despite the controversial incident at Newark airport in 2008 when, like his character in the movie, he was detained and interrogated, SRK says he's used to it and it's no longer a big deal to him:

"I'm detained every time so it's not a new thing. I accept it and it's part of visiting another country."

So how did Shahrukh prepare for a role as complicated as this one where he plays a man with Asperger syndrome, similar to autism? Well DesiHits! asked the question and here's what the star told us:

"I'm intrigued by what we call neuro-atypical behavior. My interest in the disorder started when I read a book about a boy with Asperger syndrome. I gave it to [the movie's producer] Karan Johar and told him he should make a movie out of it. Turns out I became the little boy he made a movie about! I also worked on the physical aspect of it, the eyes etc. and people were taken aback when they saw me for the first time on set."

We can imagine!

So what's next for the successful cinematic trio? "Karan is going to sleep for six months" revealed Shahrukh! Sounds like a plan!
