When you are about to meet one of the world's most influential figures, you tend to get sleepless nights. More, if you come to know that the figure is the world's biggest superstar from Bollywood. There's a popular Bollywood saying. Question: Who can guarantee you a box-office smash? Answers: 1) Shah Rukh Khan 2) Shah Rukh Khan 3) That's it. On our arrival, we are a witness to some foreign tourists sitting opposite his palace like mansion – Mannat, waiting to have a glimpse of their favourite actor. Locals are seen clicking pictures and posing in front of SRK's front gate every time they pass by his gigantic bungalow.
Bollywood Hungama's My Name Is Khan Meet N Greet contest winners arrived to meet their numero uno star Shah Rukh Khan and entered Mannat Annexe, his four floor office just behind Mannat. The security was tight, so tight that you cannot breathe. They talk on their walkie-talkie to confirm our arrival. After a while, the green signal is given. All the winners were escorted to his second floor office where the star conducts most of his interviews. This time around though, SRK was in for a surprise. There were no interviews but photo opportunities with the winners of the contest.
Bollywood Hungama's winners waited in the sitting area which had an eye catchy mammoth frame of modern art done by M.F. Hussain that separated SRK's private office from the guest room where all were anxiously waiting for the arrival of the 'King'. He wasn't better for sure. He was the best. The best anyone can have. Shah Rukh Khan came and he conquered everyone's hearts. Dressed in a blue V-neck t-shirt and denims, he looked like an open sky that embraces you every time you look up.
Unlike other celebrities who probably would just pose with the winners for pictures, SRK graciously first walked into the waiting area where all contestants were seated waiting for the moment of their life. Introducing himself, Shah Rukh caught up with each one of the winners personally. This Khan was so interested to know the names of the winners that he went about shaking the hands of every single contestant and asking their names.
After knowing all of them, the actor came out to pose with the winners. Now there are a few interesting stories behind some of the winners who got just more than being lucky. One of the winners was a National College student who had her examinations the next day. SRK posed with her, pictures were taken, flashes were going faster then bullets from a gun and here she was being asked by India's number one super star, "Don't you want an autograph?" The reply comes, "No, thank you. I don't take autographs." SRK was looking stunned. We're sure this must've been a moment for him which he'll cherish for the rest of his life. But all in good humour, everyone laughed, including Shah Rukh. What's more, as soon as the actor hugged her, she goes, "Thank you...now my exams will go even better." SRK was quick to reply, "All the best." That was a cherry on the cake for the sweet contestant. We're sure she went back home with lots more than just a smile. A blessing from SRK.
Another winner went in the same pattern, except that she desperately wanted to take SRK's autograph...and how! She posed, clicked pictures with Shah Rukh, and then as he went to give his autograph, pop came the magic pen. Yes, you heard. The lady gave the pen to SRK and said, "You need to sign on my hand as this autograph will be tattooed." Hearing this, Shah Rukh got a shocker of a surprise and questioned, "So after you ten years when I meet you, it'll still be there on your hand?" asked Shah Rukh, "Yes" came the reply. SRK signed his name in bold black and the lady had a permanent memory on her hands which wasn't going to fade away for life. We hope that the lady gets insurance for her hand.
SRK was further seen interacting with the contest winners about their likes, dislikes, films and cricket. Yes, cricket. Meet N Greet happened in Mannat Annexe on the same day the Kolkata Knight Riders were to play against the Mumbai Indians. But whatever the results...the contestants and Shah Rukh Khan himself were winners on that day which was filled with lots of flashes - a rare wait for SRK, tattoo autograph, magical hug and lots of 'click' 'click' 'click'.
