Shahrukh Khan: The centre of "Attaction!"

Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) seems to have been struggling to save his reign in Bollywood, as he is under scathing attacks from various quarters of the film industry.  The recent developments in Bollywood clearly indicate that things don't seem to be going the way Shahrukh would have liked.  In the present scenario, circumstances seem to be going all awry for King Khan.  While having different factions is not something new phenomenon in Bollywood, but the anti-SRK campaign seems to have gained momentum of late.

Going by the reports and gossips, it almost feels like SRK is being targeted by the established camps of the industry for some or the other reason or vice-versa.  There are a plethora of events which conclude that SRK is earning ire of the stalwarts challenging his status quo in the entertainment domain.  The long debated rivalry with Amitabh Bachchan has not yet settled down that SRK has found himself in the midst of unwanted controversies.

First, the showdown with Aamir Khan, declaration of Temptation world tour to counter Amitabh's world tour, and then the ugly tiff with Salman Khan at Katrina Kaif's birthday party in front of industry people.  The latest controversy has erupted from comments of Akshay Kumar on who deserves the title of King in Bollywood which also seems to have been targeted towards SRK for the title of King that he owns.

The spat between Salman Khan and SRK has literally divided Bollywood in two camps of supporters rooting for their respective actor which all started at a party on July 16 organised by Salman on his girlfriend Katrina Kaif's birthday at Olive restaurant in Bandra.  The ugly turn of events started when an inebriated Salman Khan started passing sarcastic comments on poor ratings of SRK's show on the television.  An altercation broke out between the two Khans and after heated arguments SRK stormed out of the party.  However, Aamir tried to intervene, but the two Khans were in no mood to make up.

After that spat, the two Khans are at loggerheads with Salman coming out in media declaring that he can't continue being a buddy to someone who doesn't get along well and pretends to be great friends but then is involved in back-biting.  Salman says he can never be friends with SRK again, as they are different in nature.  He further remarked sarcastically that SRK may be a great person, but his values and scruples are not the same as his.

As if this was not enough of a dose for Shahrukh that Akshay ignited the issue of King of Bollywood.  It is a known fact that SRK is nick named as King Khan in Bollywood but Khiladi Kumar's remarks have ignited new debate on the issue of who really deserves to be called the King.  It is believed that Akshay was quite proportionate and calculative in his remark which was directed towards SRK in a polished manner.

This all happened at a recent event held to promote his film Singh Is Kinng, Akshay made a statement which was a direct attack on Shah Rukh aka King Khan's status.  Responding to a question about who is the King of Bollywood, he said that the title is aptly suited to Amitabh Bachchan and nobody else.  He said "The title of King is quite heavy.  If someone asks me who is the King of this industry, I would just say it is Amitabh Bachchan. He has been in the industry for so long."

At a time when the title 'King' is almost synonymous with Shah Rukh, this comment seemed an attack over Shahrukh which was put forth by Ahshay in disdain.  It seems as Akshay has tried to settle scores with SRK on the latter's remarks on him in an award function portraying him as a performer in wedding and birthday parties.  Also, Akki was sort of humiliated in SRK's movie Om Shanti Om wherein he was shown as a bad loser on not winning the trophy which eventually went to Saharukh.

Another Khan of Bollywood, Aamir is also among the ones who somehow tried to pin down SRK in his blog where he said that he was sitting in his room with SRK at his feet.  Though later he clarified that SRK was the name of his dog but whatever he meant was clearly evident in daylight.  Though both Aamir and Shahrukh deny the rumours of any rift between them, but all is not very heartening.

On yet another front, veteran actor, Manoj Kumar also sued SRK in court on offending scenes making a fun of him in his movie Om Shanti Om.  Here also Shahrukh was on the receiving end when the Court issued a direction to delete the objectionable scenes connected to Manoj Kumar before telecasting the film on TV.  The time is not going very smooth for the Baadshah as of now.  It is a matter of time to see how he copes with all such situations and whether he succumbs to those or comes out victorious as he has been doing all these years.

  1. hi, Naveed...
    this is Shankar.
I agree to ur posts in this blog. But always for a legendary pesonality like Shahrukh Khan, it is not necessary to show off.
There are times in everyone's lives when it occurs some good occasions and some are really bad.
Name and fame comes to those really do their work best and now Shahrukh is on the top of bollywood and this is known to all his fans at large. So in the industry it feels to me as obvious that when u r in a group the groupmates really comment on some issues and some appreciate. but making so hard comments on someone is really ridiculous, as i got to know from ur blog.

anyway long live Your Boss, Mr. King ...

Yours is a true boss and a true King and no body is can put him down because nobody has that power to go to that mark
