ICICI Bank donates $ 76,475 to SINDA The amount is to be presented by actor Shah Rukh Khan,

ICICI Bank Ltd on Sunday contributed $ 76,475 to the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA), the self-help group of the Indian community in Singapore. The amount is to be presented by actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is also the global brand ambassador for ICICI Bank at an event on Sunday
night.

ICICI's Group Executive--Head International Banking Group, Vijay Chandok, will join Khan in presenting the cheque to SINDA President Indranee Rajah, the bank said in a statement.

"Having operated in Singapore for so many years, ICICI Bank views itself as a key part of the community.

"Apart from serving both the Indian and non-Indian segments of the market, we employ a fair mix of Singapore citizens and permanent residents, as well as Indian Nationals," Chandok said.

"We are privileged to be bestowed with an opportunity to give back to the society. This also reflects our strong commitment to Singapore, which is a major hub in our international network," he added.

Welcoming the donation, Rajah said, "We are delighted by ICICI Bank's strong support of our work in helping Indian children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to advance in terms of education.

"This generous donation, together with others, will greatly facilitate our upcoming plans to provide greater depth and breadth in our tuition and education assistance to these children to help them maximise their potential and make better futures for themselves and their families."

In September 2010, ICICI Bank opened its first retail branch in Singapore, setting the stage for its next phase of growth there as well as marking a major milestone for its international presence.

The opening of the first retail branch in Singapore as a result of the grant of a Full Banking Licence to ICICI Bank by the Monetary Authority of Singapore in April 2010, allows it to offer fixed deposits in Singapore Dollars and other currencies, current/savings accounts and remittance services to India.

SINDA was set up in 1991 to address educational and socio-economic issues facing the Indian community in Singapore.
