CAPE TOWN: Shah Rukh Khan has spent a lot of money building up PR for Kolkata Knight Riders. He's hired the right firms, been out there in the
public just about all the time; there've been parties, press conferences, cheerleaders, music and almost all the right kind of bytes given by the superstar himself.
Yet, he's a troubled man. That's not just because KKR got off to bad start or that relations between ex-captain Sourav Ganguly and coach John Buchanan continue to be strained. It's mainly got to do with an unknown blogger - who claims to be a KKR team member - bent on letting the cat out of the bag all the time.
The blogger - calling himself Fake IPL Player - is sure he'll never be a part of the playing XI. "But, there's one thing I do very well. Serve drinks. And that's what I am expecting do in South Africa," he writes.
Evidently, he's doing much more. The day begins with posts on what KKR did at the breakfast table to what Khan had to say to his team, who listened, who smirked, what the coach did the whole day, how's Ganguly coping with lost captaincy and of course, what the rest of the teams and their players have been up to.
The blogger uses names coined by him to refer to these people. So the pieces are about "our megalomaniac owner", Badshah d****, Coachie, Skipper (Brendon McCullum), Calypso King (Chris Gayle), Lord Almighty or Lordie (a former skipper) and fast bowlers Kaan Moolo and Little John.
Then there are non-KKR personalities like a commentator, Kishen Kanhaiyya, a star batsman, Prince of Patiala and a pacer, Appam Ch*****, among others.

SRK..my favourite and beleive that u r a real life hero..close to my heart is one more thing..the KKR team..and the day u got i became a die hard fan..but today roght now i am watching the team battle it against RR, and i am unhappy..reason being you. Is your role only to make sure that people know that u own a team..what have u done extra apart from commercials to get the team up..let me clean up your memory a bit..last time guyz like McCullum, Gayle left u alone..Ponting remained pathetic..the only matches u own was coz of one man, saurav ganguly, to remind you the knocks against chargers and punjab..the wickets and economy..it was only his efforts..again he as a captain is known to all we indians, but what u do..u listen to an oz duffer and make mccullum the captain..whoz captaincy doesnot even is known to anyone...and to add u send players like laxmi and hodge above dada for winning matches..what has happened to ur sense of cricket with which you keep arguing with legends. My friend, watch out..kolkata is loosing your trust..the oz will come, screw your money and go..but the city and its people will remain..and let me tell u..ur OZ brigade is unworthy of it
ReplyDeleteHi Shahrukh,
ReplyDeleteI am not your biggest fan but I like you since you are from Delhi :-). I have few observations about this blogger which I want to share:-
-- This guy has implausible English (I doubt if your young fringe players will have)
-- Watches interviews quite carefully (No player has time to do that)
-- I doubt any young upcoming player will have guts to try an alternate career of blogging while playing cricket at KKR.
-- Look at the id, Fake IPL player, probably that is what he wanted to be but things turned around after he wrote something sensational and got a fantastic response, got hang of it after that.
so who exactly is he???
Well he looks like a journalist to me who is hanging around with your team.
How should you catch him???
Observation.... which journalist is hanging around... his source of information is casual talk over a glass of beer, tea or coffee...
All the best.....
Cheers
i think its someone from d coach's team.............may b andy bicheal.........

Hi Sharukh,
ReplyDeleteI am an ardent admirer of yours, cant change the channel if I get your glimpse in any ...You are truly inspiring, definately a youth icon, but somehow your decision of choosing Mc Cullam as captain of KKR did not come down with your team too well. There is a visible lack of warmth and passion in him...undoubtedly a great batsman otherwise , but there is hardy any team bonding between him and the team.... something clearly visible during Saurav's captainsy .
Still, Bongs, in every corner of the world has great respect and love for you as a person and teamowner. Best of luck to you.
SRK KKR very stron team. but one point minus.
ReplyDeleteif u r change your team dress code ihope and confident ur KKR TEAM win 80% match. and qualify for final.
best of luck.

SRK....It is sad to see KKR team falling apart like a pack of cards, and you doing nothing. The team performance reminds us of Indian Team under Chappel - disintegrated, lacking team spirit, which is the most essential component in sports. Beautiful promos of "Karbo Lorbo Jitbo" do not instill team spirit. One need to make the players feel comfortable, by inculcating transparency and showing faith and confidence in them in true spirit and not by mere lip service. One or two matches can be won by individual brilliance of Gayle or Ganguly, but you need the team to perform to be a champion. It is evident that McCullum is feeling a lot of pressure, more after the captaincy issue, and he has forgotten his original game. He is undoubtedly a brilliant player, but lacks the experience and passion of Dada. Please hold Buchanon from taking any further wrong decissions. Please stop the aussie from further damage. He does not have a stake in KKR. You and I have. You have invested your money...we have our emotions, passion attached with this team. We love you..we love Kolkata...and we belive that you would not let us down.
