Shah Rukh Khan No 1 crowd-puller!

After Ganguly's heroics, Shah Rukh Khan delights fans by taking a walk around the Eden Gardens

Many have had the good fortune of watching cricket and soaking in the unique atmosphere of the Eden Gardens.

But not many get a chance to walk around the ground after a match and mingle with the spectators, who decided to stay on even after Kolkata Knight Riders ended yesterday's Indian Premier League clash against defending champions Deccan Chargers on a victorious note.

KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan did not regret his decision to take his kids for a stroll around the Eden.

Shah Rukh did not tire from waving and shaking hands with fans. The crowd couldn't believe that they could see their favourite star from such close quarters.

Yesterday's win was a big plus in itself for the cricket crazy Bengalis, but Shah Rukh's gesture turned out to be the icing on the cake.

I'm too big, says Dada

TRINAMOOL Congress leader Arup Biswas and his supporters are no Sourav Ganguly fans.

They protested over Ganguly's inclusion in the Knight Riders team and stressed that he is too old to play Twenty20.

An image of Ganguly on a poster had a white beard to it so as to indicate that he did not have age on his side.

Then, there were slogans 'Dada abhi Dadu ban gaya hai.' Incidentally, they claimed to be KKR fans. Ganguly was informed about the demonstration that took place near his home while he was on the team bus to the ground.

When MiD DAY asked him to comment on the protest, he said: "Yes, I did receive a call. Who are these people? It's shocking. I am too big for these things and want to ignore them."

On the dance floor

It was a starry night at the Eden Gardens yesterday.  SRK and family, Sushmita Sen, Raveena Tandon, Arjun Rampal, Hrithik and Suzanne Roshan were all there.

When Sourav Ganguly was hammering away against Deccan Chargers, Sushmita and Raveena were seen dancing to the tune of KKR's song, team's song 'korbo lorbo jeetbo re'.

Akram's day out

KNIGHT Riders' bowling coach Wasim Akram was a proud man yesterday after his bowlers prevented Deccan Chargers from going past the 182-run target the hosts had set them.

Ganguly's decision to open the bowling with spinner Mohnish Parmar did not eventuate in a masterstroke, but the rest of the bowlers chipped in to good effect. And Akram's smile got wider.
