About the Author
Mushtaq Shiekh’s association with words began with a career in film journalism. His first brush with the film industry was as a cub reporter with G magazine at just sixteen years of age. Mushtaq Shiekh then graduated to Star & Style to become the youngest editor of an Indian film magazine.
From print journalism to working as a creative director in electronic online and television media, his first foray in screenplay writing was for television. His scripts have been televised on national and private networks with serials and telefilms such as Kahin Toh Hoga, K Street Pali Hill, Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat, Kehna Hain Kuch Mujhko, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, and Kasauti Zindagi Ki recording some of the highest ratings in the country and winning several prestigious awards.
His journalism stint continued when he continued to write for mainstream publications such as Times of India, Mid-day, and the Indian Express for more than six years.
Mushtaq Shiekh’s first screenplay for films was for Supari, by which time his internalization of the film world had led him to his first non-fiction work done for Shah Rukh Khan - The Making of Asoka. The book became the first to be written on the making of an Indian film and went on to become a trend setting bestseller. The book was released by the then President of India, the Honorable K. R. Narayanan. This followed by Devdas: The Movie and Its Magic. Shiekh’s third book was on close friend and colleague Shah Rukh Khan -- Still Reading Khan which was published in 2006 which topped the bestseller lists in the country and found an avid audience overseas too. In 2007, Mushtaq Shiekh’s second venture as screenplay writer Om Shanti Om was released to popular acclaim.
