Model-turned-actress Preeti Desai, better known as actor Abhay Deol's girlfriend says that she happened to become an actress quite by chance. A source close to Desai, reveals that she was a bundle of nerves when she won a major beauty pageant title in the UK.
"She was the centre of attention and she had a lot of good modeling assignments coming her way there. But she wasn't sure how to channel it. When SRK, a family friend learnt of this, he advised Desai to back her bags and migrate to Mumbai. Desai took his advice and she's not regretting it one bit."
But ask Desai as to who her favourite B-town actor is and she says that she has quite a handful. "I admire Shah Rukh Khan, like many others do, for a quality that I just cannot put my finger on. But then I also admire Aamir Khan for his intelligent choices in films. He is so gutsy and gritty. He had the conviction to do films like Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par — which no leading actor would've thought of signing up for," says Desai who is hoping that the day she shares screen space with these actors is not very far off!
